Abstract
The objective of this review is to examine the effects of music therapy on Alzheimer's patients and to evaluate the existing literature. The aim is to investigate the potential benefits of music therapy on cognitive functions, emotional state, and behavioral symptoms, and to understand the role of this therapy in improving the quality of life of patients.Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. Both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches are used in the treatment of the disease. Among non-pharmacological approaches, music therapy helps Alzheimer's patients maintain their cognitive abilities, reduce behavioral symptoms, and improve their emotional state. Music therapy creates positive effects in the brain and can facilitate patients' access to memories. Literature reviews indicate that music therapy is effective in enhancing the quality of life of Alzheimer's patients. Additionally, music therapy reduces the stress levels of patients and caregivers, improving their overall well-being. This review highlights the positive effects of music therapy on Alzheimer's patients and emphasizes the need for further research.
