The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Language Education

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming the paradigm of language education, opening up new opportunities for personalization, interaction, and efficiency in the learning process. Artificial intelligence is increasingly playing a significant role in language acquisition today, focusing on its potential to reconfigure traditional teaching methods and enhance learners’ experiences.This paper aims to analyze the role of artificial intelligence in the future of language learning in general, and in the development of mother tongue competencies in particular. AI-based systems, such as virtual tutors, adaptive platforms, and natural language processing applications, enable advanced analysis of learners’ performance and provide personalized content in real time. In this context, the role of intelligent technologies in developing language competencies is emphasized, especially in terms of comprehension, speaking, and writing skills. Based on case studies, this paper seeks to explore, analyze, and compare the level of acquisition of these competencies through intelligent technologies. Through a critical approach, the study also highlights the challenges associated with the integration of artificial intelligence in language education, including ethical issues, data protection, the risk of technological dependency, and the reduction of human interaction in the learning process. In conclusion, it is argued that artificial intelligence represents a transformative tool for the future of language education; however, its success depends on careful pedagogical integration that maintains a balance between technological innovation and the irreplaceable role of the teacher.
